About the Position

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Compliance Specialist for our Legal Compliance Department who will be responsible for the analysis and research of compliance related items as they pertain to the varying underwriting programs. This position works with various departments and programs within GIG in all areas of company operations to ensure compliance between systems and underwriting in accordance with statutory and carrier requirements.  This position is required to be onsite at our York, PA office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with various business units to coordinate training on items identified as needing improvement as a result of taxes, fees and surcharge or DMV audits. 
  • Work with carrier to implement any necessary changes resulting from data feeds and statistical reporting errors within the DMV. 
  • Monthly review and research of state changes to taxes, fees and surcharges for admitted policies.
  • Manage the overall business process for the taxes, fees and surcharges to coordinate all changes for IT Systems as well as broker correspondence, as needed.  Update the Master Tax Spreadsheet for the Users. 
  • Coordination, and maintenance of the user spreadsheet for the recoupment of taxes, fees and surcharges. 
  • Research ODEN Rules and Regulations and create ODEN Notices (all types) using Policy Terminator. 
  • Prepare ODEN notices for non-renewals, conditional renewals, cancellations (non-pay and other), rescissions, reinstatements, and policy changes within required timeframes and statutory regulations for all UW programs.  
  • ODEN research for a specific type for all states, as needed for projects.
  • Coordination of ODEN Terminator updates and admin changes. 
  • Assist with DMV reporting, both internally and through carrier systems.
  • Analysis of VIN errors and motor vehicle verification requests to ensure proper reporting.
  • Participate and assist in annual carrier audits and information gathering necessary to perform audits. 
  • Coordinate use of policyholder notices as they pertain to any mail-merge.   
  • Coordinate ODEN mailings, including bulk mailings outsourced for new product implementations and transitions. 
  • Completion of internal ODEN Mail Merges identified that are unable to be outsourced.
  • Completion of Form E, Form K, FMCSA, MCS90B, MC965, MA Stamp, and Iowa Dram Shop Filings.  
  • Performs other duties as required by management.

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Successful completion of IIA General Principals of Insurance (INS 21, 22, 23) or equivalent college level course work or possess Pennsylvania P&C license.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an insurance environment with proven knowledge of MGA’s, brokerage, retail and carrier operation.  Demonstrated experience working independently using research tools to gather information and analyze requirements as needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems analyses techniques and current technologies.
  • Must have technical knowledge in using all software systems including Policy Decisions/Insurity, OnBase, Outlook, ODEN Policy Terminator, CBN 2.0, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to communicate with and influence a wide variety of personalities in-house and outside the company including customers, agents, Regional Directors and others.
  • Analytical ability is required to identify problems and work through solutions for underwriting staff.
  • Ability to provide direction based on established guidelines and procedures for underwriting assistants and maintain a productive Compliance team.
  • Must possess a desire to maintain and expand level of technical and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations.  Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated and willing and able to meet strict deadlines.
